After breakfast visit Dambulla Cave Temple and proceed to Kandy en-route visit Aluvihara temple in Matale. Evening visit Temple of Tooth Relic and witness of cultural dance show. Overnight stay at hotel in Kandy.
Dambulla, home to one of Sri Lanka’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, features the Island’s largest and best preserved richly painted Cave Temple Complex. Though there are more than 80 documented caves in the area, the most significant are spread over 5 caves, which comprise of statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha and his life.
Kandy, the hill capital is another “World Heritage Sites”. It was the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings during the Portuguese, Dutch and British rule and finally ceded to the British in 1815 after an agreement, close by are the remains of the Royal Palace (Mahawasala), Pallewasala- where the Queens stayed-now used for the National Museum, Medawasala where other close relatives lived, Audience Hall, Nathadevala and Vishnu Devala are situated.
