    NEGOMBO / ANURADHAPURA

    After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura en-route visit Yapahuwa.

    Visit RidiViharaya. Check in and overnight stay at hotel in Anuradhapura.

    Yapahuwa, was one of the ephemeral capitals of medieval Sri Lanka. It was largely abandoned and inhabited by Buddhist monks and religious ascetics.

    Ridiviharaya or silver temple was built at the place where silver ore was found, that was used to build Ruwanweli Dagaba at Anuradhapura by King Dutugemunu during his reign.

    ANURADHAPURA (STAY)

    After breakfast do a city tour in Anuradhapura Explore the ancient city with its gloriest ruins & proceed to Mihintale. Back to hotel, overnight stay at hotel.

    Mihintale, is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.

    Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's sacred ancient city, surrounded by 3 great man-made lakes, is located in Sri Lanka's Northwest dry zone which is arid, rolling, open country. At the height of its glory, Anuradhapura ranked beside Nineveh and Babylon in its colossal proportions. The monumental dagobas, Jetavana Dagoba, Abayagiri Stupa and the Ruwwanveli Seya are amongst the greatest architectural feats of its age and have been surpassed only in scale by the great pyramids of Khufru & Khafra at Gizah.

    ANURADHAPURA / POLONNARUAWA / SIGIRIYA

    Early breakfast and leave to Polonnaruwa via Aukana, you will be heading to one of the historical UNESCO world heritage sites and this city gained more reputation during the late period, Royal family and nobility of Sri Lanka strongly supported Buddhism.

    Polonnaruwa. Sri Lanka's medieval capital (11th - 12th Century AD) is a well-preserved city of ancient dagobas, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive buildings and stunningly beautiful statues. Polonnaruwa is situated in north-central Sri Lanka (Ceylon), near the Mahaweli River. It is an ancient Ceylonese capital that was long deserted but has been revived in modern times. The city, beautifully situated on a lake, was once the most splendid city of Sri Lanka. The Sea of Parakrama - a vast 12th century man-made reservoir dominates the city.

    SIGIRIYA / KANDY

    (Approx.  95 km)

    After breakfast visit Dambulla Cave Temple and proceed to Kandy en-route visit Aluvihara temple in Matale. Evening visit Temple of Tooth Relic and witness of cultural dance show. Overnight stay at hotel in Kandy.

    Dambulla, home to one of Sri Lanka’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, features the Island’s largest and best preserved richly painted Cave Temple Complex. Though there are more than 80 documented caves in the area, the most significant are spread over 5 caves, which comprise of statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha and his life.

    Kandy, the hill capital is another “World Heritage Sites”. It was the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings during the Portuguese, Dutch and British rule and finally ceded to the British in 1815 after an agreement, close by are the remains of the Royal Palace (Mahawasala), Pallewasala- where the Queens stayed-now used for the National Museum, Medawasala where other close relatives lived, Audience Hall, Nathadevala and Vishnu Devala are situated.

    KANDY (STAY)

    After breakfast visit Historical temples in Kandy. Embekke Devalaya, Gadaladeniya temple and Lankathilaka temple. Back to hotel and overnight stay.

    The majestic Lankatilaka Raja Maha Viharaya, believed to be one of the most magnificent architectural edifice in the Gampola kingdom, was built at the crest of a large rock named “Panhalgala” overlooking the Hantane mountain range in the Hiripitiya hamlet in Udunuwara.

    Gadaladeniya, RajamahaViharaya with an ancient monastery is found on the flat rock at Diggala in the district of Kandy. According to a inscription there this temple was built by King Buwanekabahu IV in the year 1344. The chief architect of this temple was a South Indian called Ganesvarachari. Therefore this temple is essentially a South Indian design.

    Embekke Devale, famed for its elaborate woodcarvings, pillars and other structures, nestle in the Udunuwara. It lies close to Daulagala about eight miles from Kandy.

    KANDY / COLOMBO

    After breakfast visit Royal Botanical Gardens and leave to Colombo. City tour and shopping. In the evening maybe a visit to Galle Face Green and walk around the street food market. Overnight stay at hotel.

    Colombo Drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Aukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Visit Kelaniya Temple & Gangaramaya Temple.

    The Kelaniya Raja MahaVihara, or Kelaniya Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, seven miles from Colombo. Buddhists believe the temple to have been hallowed during the third and final visit of the Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka, eight years after gaining enlightenment. Its history would thus go back to before 500 BCE.

    The Mahawansa records that the original Stupa at Kelaniya enshrined a gem-studded throne on which the Buddha sat and preached.
